Quandongs (Santalum acuminatum) or also know as wold peaches are a red fruit with a large ornamental inner seed which has traditionally been used for medicinal purposes while the outer husk can be eaten. It has qualities that can provide an alternative to meat proteins with an earthy, dry aroma and tart fruity aftertaste with great antioxidant properties.
Use as you would a peach or apricot, the quandong can also be rehydrated and is wonderful for baking or making jams or cocktail garnishes.
